How to draw a cute boy with freckles

At first, drawing a face might seem a bit scary – The exact position of each part of the face, the expression, and let’s not even talk eyebrows!! It’s not simple for a first post, I admit, and even a bit tricky, but I’m here to guide you – step by step.

Final image will be:

1. Begin with the nose. It’s a good start for a cartoon face – it will give a great foundation for everything around it: eyes, mouth, etc.

2. Add the mouth and eyes. The easiest way to draw eyes is to just draw 2 simple circles in both sides of the nose.

• Perspective: Make sure that the ‘closer’ eye is slightly bigger than the ‘farther’ eye. in our case, the eye in the right is ‘closer’ to us, the viewers, so it is bigger than the left eye.
• Both eyes top edge should be aligned to the same height.

3. Now the face should get a chin, ears and eyebrows.

• The top of the ear should be aligned to the top of the eye – both their in the same ‘invisible line’.

In the following image you’ll find 2 examples of horrible things done to the cartoon faces, which i find pretty common: a shrunken head, with no place for any normal brain (looks like  a chimpanzee!), or a wayyy too big of a head.

\Both are horrible. don’t do that. please.

• How to get the scull size just right?
• Imagine an invisible line between the mouth and the eyes. The top of the head should be on that invisible line, when the distance between it and the eyes should be equal to the distance between the eyes and the mouth.
• After finding the top of the head, you can easily add the hair – remember that the hair is usually not ‘stuck’ to the head, but had some space, so there should be a descent distance between it and the top of the head, as seen below.

4. Now all that’s left is to add the hair:

5.   Add some color – and that’ it, the freckled boy is done.
